What used to be only about electronics has become a massive automotive innovation show. The Consumer Electronics Show brings us some new car-tech innovations.

As cars have become tech-rich environments with advanced electronics for nearly every part of the drive, the CES, which is held in Las Vegas each year, has become a central hub of innovations and automotive future tech. What you see at this show today could quickly become part of your vehicle in the next few years.

Let’s take a look at some of the top car-tech innovations from CES 2025.

BMW Panoramic iDrive

BMW’s iDrive technology has been complex and challenging in the past, but that could change. In addition to creating a new, advanced system that is the most powerful and the easiest to use since iDrive began, BMW has created a new interface that spans the width of the dashboard with an available 3D head-up display, a new steering wheel, and a clear central display. Despite being only an evolution of what BMW already offers, this new iDrive system could make driving future BMW models much more enjoyable.

Honda 0 Series

The Honda 0 Series vehicles are meant to stand for the amount of emissions coming out of the tailpipe. Two models appeared at CES 2025, giving us a look at complete car-tech innovations from Honda. The 0 Saloon and 0 SUV are pretty close to what we expect the production versions to be when they begin in 2026. These vehicles have a low, wedge shape up front and a sweeping roofline over the cabin, giving these models futuristic styling and aerodynamic shapes. These 0 Series models could be the future of Honda electric vehicles.

Pebble Trailer

This is the second year at CES for the Pebble Trailer, but the current version is a production-ready prototype that has the desired functions of a travel trailer. The Pebble Trailer is an EV that can provide power to a campsite for seven days or to your home when the power goes out. It can also send power to the towing vehicle to lessen the load, can be charged from a 1.1-kW rooftop solar array, and is capable of maneuvering into camping spots remotely, making it much easier to position where you want.

Elaphe Sonic.1 In-Wheel Motors

How can in-wheel motors be an advantage over electric motors attached to axles? If each electric motor at the wheel can provide power to that wheel, it allows the driver to make better use of the available power and control how much goes to each wheel. One of the car-tech innovations offered at CES 2025, is the Sonic.1 from Elaphe, which could be an important advancement in the world of high-performance driving.

Solar-Powered Car

Aperta has been in and out of business since 2006, but the company has developed a two-seat, three-wheel vehicle that can drive 40 miles using power generated from the solar panels on its hood and roof. This isn’t much of a driving range, which is why the company includes a traditional battery charger and battery pack that allows the vehicle to drive up to 400 miles on a full charge. This is the starting point for using solar power during travel and might become the next advancement in electric vehicle development.

TUC Technologies Modular Dashboard

Can you imagine moving things around or upgrading the interior of your vehicle like you can in your home? The new TUC Technologies modular dashboard features modular connectors to be one of the coolest car-tech innovations offered at CES2025. These modular connectors allow you to upgrade your infotainment system, move your wireless charging pat, or change your instrument panel and transmission shifter style to fit your taste. You could even change the car from left to right-hand steering by moving the steer-by-wire steering wheel from one side to the other.

Stryten Energy Mobile Microgrid

How can you get electric power to disaster zones? The Jeep Wrangler seems to be the ideal vehicle for this and Stryten Energy has created a mobile microgrid with a large battery power system in the bed. This allows the vehicle to provide portable power to remote locations and its designed for disaster zones where power is necessary to help relieve efforts. This vehicle can provide fixed and portable power solutions using various battery types to serve the needs of an area experiencing a significant disaster.
