Whether it’s the early models of the Willys version of the Wrangler, the military models that were used and called GP for General Purpose vehicles, or the American Motor Company models the Wrangler has been around in some form since the early days of World War II. As the actual Jeep Wrangler, this vehicle has been on sale for over thirty years and it seems this will be a model that we’ll see for at least thirty years more as we look to this vehicle for the off-road fun we want to enjoy.
Not only has the Jeep Wrangler, or some version of it, been around for over 75 years, this vehicle has recently had a complete change to a new model and a new generation. With the changes that were made some may have thought the new Wrangler wouldn’t be well-received or it would lose some of its charm, but it seems this SUV continues to be one of the most impressive off-road vehicles on the market and one that’s becoming even more popular than it has in the past. It appears the sales numbers would certainly show this to be the case.

April was a Banner Month for the Jeep Wrangler

FCA was able to announce the Jeep brand as the brand that led the way for the April sales. The record sales for Jeep showed an increase of twenty percent to 82,641 vehicles that were sold which passed the previous April numbers of 82,537 which was recorded in 2016. The Wrangler was the top seller in the lineup with new models attributing to 29,776 of the vehicles that were sold. This makes two months in a row that the Wrangler topped the sales charts for Jeep to give this new model a strong start.

Other models of mention that helped to spurn a sales success for FCA include the Jeep Compass which more than tripled to 11,521 units and the Ram brand showed its best-ever retail sales month with 36,560 vehicles sold. The Dodge Journey also saw a record in April which puts it at 11,638 units for the month and a total increase for Dodge of four percent to have 40,994 vehicles sold during the month. The Chrysler Pacifica also saw an increase in retail sales to bring in 7,864 models sold during the month of April.

As you can see from the results, the Jeep brand carried the day for FCA and the SUV models are certainly topping the charts to give FCA a variety of vehicles that offer a value and profit. The Wrangler sales may have to do with the two model versions that were being sold at the same time, but that still leads to an impactful increase in the sales for one model name. Alfa Romeo is also seeing growth under the FCA umbrella and it seems the sales in the US are helping solidify this brand. This is good news for FCA and the struggles that have been faced for some time.
