Many of the automotive brands we know and trust are now offering us a variety of higher performance models under a separate sub-branding strategy. Chevrolet has accidentally on purpose had a sub-brand for many years called the SS. The Camaro SS is a fantastic car that we know and love, we enjoyed the Chevrolet SS while it was on the market, and now we might be ready for an upgrade to the new Blazer as well. If Chevrolet wants to keep up with Ford, which is slapping the ST badge on nearly everything, they will have to give us a hot and exciting SUV to drive.

A Rendering that Could be Right

A recent rendering of what the Blazer SS could look like has surfaced and is offered by the team at ChevyBlazer.org. This new Blazer look takes a page out of the book of the Bumblebee Camaro model with its bright yellow paint and black accents to offer the style that will easily grab our attention and keep it for the time that we want to enjoy this new ride. Hopefully, Chevrolet will make this new SUV and give us the excitement we’re looking for.

Excellence in this Rendering

Not only can we see the potential for a dramatic color look in the Blazer SS, but we can see the possibility for the features we want to enjoy. The rendering shows us an SUV riding on large 21-inch wheels, what appears to be a quad-port exhaust system, a lowered suspension, and the blacked out trim items that we could easily fall in love with. This SUV is everything we want when we need a bit of added roominess but we still want a sports car to drive on the road.

From the Camaro to the Blazer

The team at Chevrolet made no secret of the fact that the Blazer wears some of the style elements we find and admire in the Camaro. With that in mind, would a Blazer SS be powered by the same engine as the Camaro SS? The Camaro SS uses a 455-horsepower V8 engine that gives it an amazing amount of power that’s pushed to the rear wheels. It’s more likely that the Blazer SS would make use of the 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 that’s used in the Cadillac CT6. This engine isn’t a slouch at all either, it produces 404 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque, which would give the Blazer SS more power than the Ford Edge ST.

Would You Buy the Blazer SS?

The sportier models of the SUV world are becoming more popular and plentiful. Would you want to drive the Blazer SS if it was created? Would the creation of this model open the door to the development of an SS model for the rest of the SUV lineup? Imagine the Tahoe SS with the full power of the Camaro SS and how much fun that would be on the road; hopefully, Chevrolet will develop the SS models we want to drive.

In the meantime, head over to your local Chevrolet dealer to take one of the current Chevy models on the market for a test drive. You may just find your new best ride!
