It seems as though there are some models that come to an end of their life and for some reason, the automaker doesn’t want to continue on with a new generation of some of these models as we move into a new year. For the 2017 model year, we’ve said farewell to our fair share of models that were at the end of their term and showed no need to be renewed. Here are a few of those models that we won’t see as part of the 2018 model year.
Mitsubishi iMiev – This may be a model that most of us won’t actually miss at all. This was an EV that was slow and had what eventually was a low range from the battery pack. With only 80 miles of driving and the sprint to sixty that will get you honked at during the 14.7 seconds, this is a car that won’t be missed and certainly should be gone from the market for good.

Volkswagen Touareg – This was the midsize SUV that we won’t see return as the new Atlas has been brought in. This model did experience slower sales and with the expectation of the Atlas becoming the leader and one that will meet more needs than the Touareg was able to in the past, this will be a vehicle that won’t be missed as it has been replaced the right way.

Hyundai Azera – As the luxury models that were part of the Hyundai brand have made their way to the Genesis brand, it appeared the Azera was left behind but will finally be put out of its misery. This car experienced slower sales this year and will finally be allowed to end its run as Genesis makes room for the new G70 to make its way to the market in the upcoming months.

Nissan Juke – Nissan has a few subcompact SUV models on the market and the Juke has been a car that seems to fit in a strange place in the market. By ending the production of this vehicle, the Rogue and Rogue Sport will continue to be the leaders in the area that Juke was part of as well for a few years. This vehicle gave us some unique appearances but will no longer.

Smart ForTwo Gas – The North American market will no longer offer the gasoline-powered ForTwo when it comes to the drive on our roads. Instead, the Electric Drive version will continue to be offered and it will be one that we expect to be more of a city dweller for this market, making it the model that can be an enjoyable model for roaming in tight places.

Mustang V6 – Because Ford has developed the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine to offer more efficiency and incredible power, and the V6 can’t get to the power level of the 5.0-liter V8, it makes sense that the V6 version of the Mustang has become a model that will have a headstone in front of it for us to visit and remember what it was for the time it was here.

Chevrolet SS – There are few cars that have been killed off that came with as much power and performance as this car. With the end of the partnership with Holden in Australia, this is a car that certainly met its end after the 2017 model year. This car is one that had everything someone wanted for power and family hauling but just didn’t sell as well as it should have.

Dodge Viper – As the last of the truly old school sports supercars to be killed off, the Viper finally makes its farewell to the market for a second time. The crazy drive and insane power of this car will certainly be missed as one of the most admired track cars that could venture onto the road. This was truly one of the greatest cars to make its way to the market in automotive history.
