Mazda has offered us a variety of impressive sports cars with dynamic driving features, a balanced attack on the road. It has also given us the sleek and amazing styling that we love to admire. This brand has taken the moniker of zoom zoom to the next level by offering the SkyActiv technology and tight suspension and steering features in every model offered from the brand like the Mazda6. In a world where we see fewer sedans and cars being built, we’re certainly hopeful that the newest patent filing for the MX-6 that’s been applied for will be approved and used by Mazda.

A Quick Review of Mazda Sports Car Fun

Currently, the Mazda lineup we know and love has one sports car which is the MX-5 Miata. It has reached its fourth-generation to be the ND version of the car. This is a car that has grown from a cartoonish small roadster to one that has grown up. It gives us a more serious feeling from the roadster that we want to enjoy on the road. Other sports cars we’ve seen have been the RX-7 which was absolutely amazing and the Cosmo that gave us a smooth and elegant example of what Mazda can do.

The Sports Car Not Mentioned

One model that wasn’t mentioned among the Mazda sports car greats is the MX-6. This car wasn’t nearly as iconic as the other three. Although the first generation of the car was stylish, it wasn’t a huge success. By the second generation, the MX-6 was sharing a platform with the former Ford Probe. This was likely what caused its death. This platform didn’t allow the MX-6 to be an enthusiastic and fun drive. Since we’d come to expect from Mazda, the car was subsequently discontinued after this generation ended.

The MX-6 May Return

In October, a discovery was made that showed that Mazda had filed for the trademark on the Mazda MX-6 name. This will be used for automobiles and parts and accessories. This trademark gives us hope that the former name will return and it will be a car that we can admire, not something that resembles the second generation of the previous version of the car. While this is flimsy evidence at best, it’s enough to get us talking about what this car could be and how it might make its return to the automotive market in the US or in Japan.

What Could the MX-6 Become?

Mazda has had no shortage of impressive concept models over the past few years to give us an idea of what we might see when it’s time for this car to return in the future. Could the MX-6 become the iteration of the RX Vision or the RX Vision Coupe? That would absolutely blow our minds and make it easy for us to have a new Mazda sports car that can be fantastic for the ride.
