Everyone knows the Kia Stinger as a sporty sedan that helped Kia climb to the top of the auto market. When the Stinger hit the road in 2018, it took the world by storm. Other manufacturers were throwing in the towel on making sedans and focusing on building new SUVs. Kia decided to give drivers what they really wanted with the Kia Stinger.

The only difficult part about buying a Stinger is deciding which trim best fits your needs, especially when it comes to the GT1 and the GT2. Here’s how these two top trims compare:

The Foundation of Every Kia Stinger

Before you get too wrapped in the difference between the GT1 and GT2, it’s critical to understand the foundation of the Stinger. The GT-Line trim is the entry-level option that sets the pace for how this sedan is loaded.

The GT-Line comes with a solid 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 300 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. This model also comes equipped with some pretty awesome standard gear:

  • 18-inch wheels
  • LED headlights
  • Rain-sensing windshield wipers
  • Keyless entry
  • Push-button start
  • Leather upholstery
  • Heated front seats
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • A 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment center
  • In-dash navigation
  • Wireless smartphone charging
  • A nine-speaker sound system
  • Navigation-based adaptive cruise control
  • Forward collision mitigation
  • Lane-keeping assist
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Rear passenger safe-exit
  • Parking sensors
  • And much more

Kia Singer

It’s hard to imagine how any model could come with more than the base model Kia Stinger, but the GT1 and GT2 absolutely raise the bar.

The GT1

The GT1 comes with everything you find on the GT-Line, with a few notable exceptions. For starters, the GT1 model is loaded with a 3.3-liter V6 engine that makes 368 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque. You’re also riding on 10-inch wheels for a little more prominence on the road.

Here are some other highlights of the GR1 model:

  • Brembo brakes
  • Launch control that helps produce optimal acceleration
  • Enhanced ability on corners with torque-vectoring rear differential
  • A sunroof
  • LED interior lighting
  • And more

The GT2

The GT2 definitely earns its place as the top trim. It keeps the same V6 engine and wheels that come with the GT1, but makes several major enhancements in other areas:

  • Adaptive suspension
  • Auto-dimming mirrors
  • Power-opening hatch lid
  • Premium leather upholstery
  • Heated rear seats
  • Ventilated front seats
  • Upgraded Harman Kardon sound system with 15 speakers
  • A head-up display
  • And more

The GT2 is also eligible for the limited-edition Scorpion Special Edition package that adds a rear spoiler, black exterior trim, black wheels, and carbon-fiber interior trim.

Which One Is Right For Me?

If you’re looking for a powerful sedan that will impress your friends, any level of Kia Stinger will do. Of course, the V6 engine is going to drop more jaws than the four-cylinder option. Both the GT1 and GT2 are equipped with everything you need for top speeds, a comfortable ride, and plenty of perks. The GT2, however, adds tons of luxury and convenience items that you can’t get anywhere else.

The difference in equipment between these two comes at a cost. The GT1 starts at $46,735, while the GT2 starts at $51,290. For what you get with this amazing car, both options seem like a steal. In reality, the best Kia Stinger is whichever one you take home, as they are all pretty amazing.
