There aren’t many SUVs that can compete with the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban in the big SUV segment, but the Jeep Wagoneer is one of them. However, its much higher price point may have limited its reach, until now. The Wagoneer and Wagoneer L are getting significant price cuts for the 2025 model year to better compete with Chevy.

Price Cuts and Enhancements

Compared to the 2024 models, the 2025 Jeep Wagoneer and the long-wheelbase L version will start about $3,000 lower. This brings the price tag a lot closer to what the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban start at. However, price cuts aren’t the only area where the Wagoneer aims to compete. Jeep is outfitting the big SUV with more standard equipment like adaptive cruise control and an interactive passenger display.

Stellantis has claimed that the new prices will make the Jeep Wagoneer the most affordable full-size SUV in America. However, this statement is misleading. Whether the price counts the destination charge or not, the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban still cost slightly less than the Wagoneer. In fact, the Ford Expedition is also less money than the Wagoneer.

Comparing Price Figures For the Chevy Tahoe

To compare prices with the claims by Stellantis, it’s easy to see that the Wagoneer is still more expensive. For example, the 2WD Tahoe LS with the 5.3-liter V8 costs $60,495 with the destination charge. The 2WD Wagoneer with a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six costs $61,945 to start, which makes it over $1,000 more than the Tahoe. The price difference extends to the higher trims as well. The 4WD Tahoe LS and the 2WD Tahoe LT both cost less than the 4WD base Wagoneer.

The top trims of the Chevy Tahoe ultimately cost more than the Jeep Wagoneer, but the Tahoe also has more engine options to choose from. The Jeep Wagoneer only offers a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, while the Tahoe has two V8 engines to choose from, plus a turbodiesel. The specs of the Wagoneer’s engine are similar to the larger V8 available with the Tahoe and Suburban.

Wagoneer L vs. Suburban Price Figures

Similar to the comparison with the Tahoe, the Wagoneer L is also more expensive than the Suburban. The base LS for the Suburban starts at $63,495 including the destination charge. The Wagoneer L is over $1,000 higher with a starting price of $64,945. Those figures are with 2WD. It costs roughly $3,000 more to add 4WD to either SUV. Again, the Suburban has more engine options and trim options than the Wagoneer.

The highest Wagoneer L trim is the Series III and it costs $78,945 with 4WD. The Suburban trims go much higher than that thanks to the extra options for engines and 4WD or 2WD. For example, the Premier Suburban trim with the 6.2-liter V8 and 4WD starts at $89,450. You can also get the efficient turbodiesel option on the Suburban with the LT trim, starting at $72,190 for a 2WD version.
