The GT has been in and out of the Ford lineup a few times, and it wasn’t supposed to come back for a final round, but it is. The LM Edition stands for LeMans, and it’s part of the 2022 run of this car. The GT won the 24 Hours of LeMans four times back in the 1960s and then again in 2016, making it one of the most inspirational and incredible supercars in the market.

This Supercar is Just Another Final Edition in the Automotive Market

The end of the internal combustion engine is nigh, which means automakers need to celebrate now if they want to show us a special version of their performance-oriented supercars. Ford doesn’t intend to ever bring back the GT name again, which means the next Ford supercar should wear a different name and will probably have an electric powertrain to give it the incredible performance desired. Don’t Expect Racing Power in Your GT LM

The new and final 2022 Ford GT LM Edition cars pay tribute to the GT model that have raced around the LeMans track many times, but this new car won’t have the same power or tuning we saw at the iconic race. Instead, the LM models use the same high-performance engine that’s been part of this Ford for several years. Power for this car comes from a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine that makes 660 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque.

This engine might not be bigger and more powerful than the other GT models we’ve seen recently, but it does enjoy some upgrades to make it extremely cool. The engine expels exhaust through a titanium dual-exhaust system with a cyclonic design in the tips. The seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission makes it easy for you to find the gears you need when it’s time to drive this impressive Ford supercar. Overall, this might not sound like a big difference from the regular 2022 version of the GT, but it does give you some aspects that pay tribute to the LeMans racers from Ford.

Ford Didn’t Change the Shape

You’ll also see titanium lug nuts and black-painted Brembo brake calipers.

The Interior Continues the Theme from the Outside

When you lift open the incredibly sporty doors of the Ford GT LM, you’ll see the same red or blue color that was chosen for the exterior in the cabin area of this car. The seats are made of carbon fiber and wrapped in Alcantara with a red or blue driver’s seat. The passenger seat is black and has stitching that matches the driver’s seat. This is a bit of a unique look; most cars have all seats matching. The dashboard features black leather and Alcantara, and the center console, vents, and lower A-pillars are all finished in exposed carbon fiber with a matte finish to them.

Ford Uses 3D Printing for the Interior Badging

This new Ford GT is meant to pay homage to the car from the 216 LeMans race. To do this, Ford employs 3D printing elements for these special models. The interior badges will be 3D-printed to offer a special look and a unique way to make a part of this amazing car. How Much Will this Specialized Car Cost?

With only 20 models being made, it’s easy to understand if the special model of the Ford GT comes close to $1,000,000 per car. The start of production for this last version of the Ford GT will begin in the fall and end before the calendar turns to 2023. It’s likely all 20 versions will be spoken for before production begins, but that doesn’t stop us from talking about this new and impressive sports car. Most likely, we’ll see some of these cars added to collections for some of the wealthiest car collectors in the world.
