If you’re in the market for a new midsize truck, there are some exciting options at your local Ford Dealer. Everyone knows about trucks like the F-150, but a couple of smaller options are worth considering. That’s where the Ford Maverick and Ford Ranger come into play. Read on to see how the Ford Maverick compares to the Ford Ranger to see if one seems like a better option for you.

The Ford Maverick

The Ford Maverick is a relatively new addition to your local Ford dealer. What shoppers love about this pickup truck is its standard hybrid powertrain, which is expected to earn 40 mpg. It can also be equipped with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine that creates 250 horsepower (59 more hp than the hybrid option).

Inside, the Maverick has a few unique styling options. For example, this is the only Ford truck to sport a spit-design door armrest with room for a one-liter bottle of water and the Ford Integrated Tether System (FITS) that allows for a host of different interior cargo solutions.

Outside, the Maverick comes with Ford’s new FLEXBED, a shorter truck bed with various slots to create the cargo area of your dreams. You can add up to 12 anchor points, utilize the pre-wired DIY electrical system, and enjoy a multi-position tailgate.

When properly equipped, the Maverick can two up to 4,000 pounds and handle a payload of 1,500 pounds. It comes with unibody construction that makes it handle like a champion.

The Ford Ranger

The Ranger has been a long-time favorite for years. It comes equipped with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine that provides a solid 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. With the proper configuration, you can tow up to 7,500 pounds in the Ranger, and it can also handle 1,905 pounds of payload capacity.

The Ranger’s interior is loaded with tons of great features: front bucket seats, dual-zone climate control, and leather-trimmed seats. You also have the option to enjoy things like an eight-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and more. Of course, these options are also available on the Maverick. The Ranger uniquely offers a Tremor Package that comes with trail control and a terrain management system.

The Ford Ranger is built with a body-on-frame design, making it a great truck for towing and hauling.

Which Truck Is Right for Me?

The great news is that you can’t go wrong with either the Ford Maverick or Ford Ranger. If you’re looking for a more modern truck with updated features, the Maverick might be the right choice. It isn’t necessarily as tough as the Ranger, but it’s a perfect rig for those who need a truck that handles like an SUV.

If you’re looking for something with a little more kick to it, check out the Ford Ranger. It offers excellent towing and hauling capacities and can be equipped to take on off-road adventures as well.

Regardless of which truck you fancy, stop by your local Ford dealer to give them both a look.
