The Jeep brand is one with a strong image and identity. Jeep vehicles are mostly known for rugged off-roading ability thanks to the iconic Wrangler. However, these days, Jeep vehicles are great for daily use with user-friendly infotainment and comfortable interiors. Jeep only makes SUVs and one truck, but buying a new Jeep vehicle might not always fit your budget. Let’s take a look at some of the best Jeep models to buy on the used market.

2009 Jeep Commander and Jeep Patriot

Jeep Commander

When it comes to used cars for sale, you can often save a lot of money by going several years back to find a reputable model. The Jeep Commander from the 2009 model year offers an attractive deal with prices ranging between $9,000 and $14,500. This is a big three-row SUV that came with either a V6 or V8 engine. When properly equipped, the Jeep Commander can tow up to 7,400 pounds, and it can definitely hold its own off-road.

On the smaller side of things from 2009 is the Jeep Patriot. You can find this model for prices between $4,300 and $5,700, which is a steal for a roomy midsize SUV with plenty of cargo space. The 2009 model offered an updated interior as well.

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Compass

Jeep Grand Cherokee

Moving up to 2011, the Jeep Grand Cherokee from this model year now retails for prices between $11,200 and $15,600. The 2011 Grand Cherokee came with either a V6 or Hemi V8 engine and offered multiple 4WD systems and an optional adjustable air suspension. Some of the tech might feel dated in the 2011 model, but it was updated in the 2014 model.

Another good Jeep model from 2011 is the Jeep Compass. The Compass was built on an older, more car-like platform, but it still had some decent off-road ability. If you want even more off-road ability, you should look for the Freedom Drive II Off-Road package. Otherwise, the Compass is a roomy midsize SUV with good fuel economy and a price range between $18,400 and $27,600.

2015 and 2018 Jeep Wrangler

In this tale of two Wranglers, it all depends on whether you want updated tech and a more comfortable interior. For something a little more old-school, the 2015 Jeep Wrangler was still pretty utilitarian and did not feature a lot of updated technology. It came standard with a V6 engine and 4WD and now ranges in price between $19,600 and $33,119.

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler has a lot of updated tech and was totally redesigned for 2018. However, it will cost on average about $3,000 more than the 2015 model. It’s worth noting that the Jeep Wrangler in general holds its value better than most other Jeep models. Even models from the TJ generation between 1997 and 2006 can cost around $10,000 if they’re in good shape and have low mileage.

As a car shopper, you definitely have a lot of choices when looking at the Jeep brand. Among many other used cars for sale, Jeep models stand out for their rugged reliability and recognizable looks.
