When it comes to Tesla, you must be patient. This is proven to be the case more with the Tesla Cybertruck than any other model.

So far, the only vehicle to come out of this brand on time is the Model Y.Both the Model 3 and Model X faced serious delays in production, and now the Cybertruck has the same challenges. Unfortunately, the issues in the automotive industry push the production time back for this interesting truck. Are these challenges the only reasons Tesla continually pushes the production dates back?

Back and Forth We Go

As the 2022 calendar year opened, the scheduled production date for the new Tesla truck was removed from the website. This meant we had no idea when this new truck would ever make it into the production phase. Recently, a new date appeared with the production timeline starting in 2023. This creates a timeline for when we should see this new truck, but don’t hold your breath, it’s possible this date could get pushed back even further. As they’ve done before, Tesla is taking us on a roller coaster ride while we sit and wait for this new truck.

Where is the New Tesla Truck Being Built?

Tesla’s new factory in Austin, Texas, will be home to the new Cybertruck. This might be a little stereotypical of any brand to build it in the Lone Star State, but that’s not the reason for this move. The Gigafactory already has several models, and the latest model will find a new home with this brand. This new factory creates a ton of jobs for the people in the area, giving them a new vehicle to build and enjoy as Tesla continues to grow as a company.

What Will the Tesla Cybertruck Offer?

Most of us have seen this new truck by now. It brings a strange geometric shape covered in stainless steel, which reminds us more of the DeLorean DMC-12 than of any truck we’ve ever seen. Tesla continues to accept $100 refundable deposits for this new truck. The pricing for the Cybertruck will begin at $39,900 for the Single Motor RWD model, which puts it in line with the other electric trucks coming to the market. This base model offers more than 250 miles of driving range on a single charge, and it reaches sixty mph in 6.5 seconds.

Above the base model, we will see a Dual Motor AWD model that should cost $49,900 and claim a driving range of 300 miles. The acceleration you’ll find at this trim level allows you to reach sixty mph in 4.5 seconds. The top trim level is a Tri Motor model that is the most expensive and powerful version of the Cybertruck. This model should carry a price tag of $69,900 while bringing a 500-mile driving range and acceleration to sixty mph, which should only take 2.9 seconds.

Speculating a bit, we expect the Tri Motor version to be the first released, filling orders for those looking for the most powerful version of the Tesla Cybertruck.

Tesla Pushes Plans for the $25,000 Car

While announcing the new production date for the Cybertruck, this electric vehicle company also told us they have shelved plans for the other vehicle they want to build. This second new model is supposed to be a small car with a starting price of $25,000. Not only is the plan to build this car and offer it at an extremely affordable price, but this new car should have features that we haven’t seen in the market yet.

What Should the Affordable Tesla Car Include

So far, the new small, affordable electric car from Tesla is being called the Model 2. This might not be the vehicle that we see when its time for production, but that’s not what matters here. Besides the name question and the affordable price, Tesla is boldly working to build this new vehicle as a fully-autonomous vehicle. The company hints this new car might not have a steering wheel or pedals when it finally appears. Pushing this car back, for now, makes sense. It also gives the company time to work out some of the issues with autonomous driving, including regulatory approval.

How is Tesla Going to Offer an Autonomous Vehicle?

If the new $25,000 car is going to be fully autonomous when it arrives, Tesla needs to prove it can safely offer this system in a car. They will do this by offering over-the-air updates for current Tesla vehicles on the road. These updates can change the driving systems and give owners driving capabilities that allow them to spend time on the road without using the steering wheel or pedals during a drive. This autonomous system will need approval, and adding it to current vehicles that have pedals and steering wheels makes it possible.

Could the Cybertruck Receive the same Updates?

When the production of the new Tesla Cybertruck begins, the new autonomous driving updates made for the Model 2 could be offered. With these over-the-air updates going out to all Tesla owners to allow vehicles to drive without human intervention, paving the way for the future of driving. Of course, if the Cybertruck is pushed back farther, there’s a chance we won’t see this truck with the same updates as the Model S, Model X, and Model 3.

Everything with Tesla is a Waiting Game

The hold that Elon Musk and Tesla have on the general public continues to amaze us in many ways. It doesn’t seem to matter how long we must wait for a vehicle to come out of this company. We waited for the Model X, and it sold extremely well. The Model 3 was an even bigger hit, as the first mainstream-priced model from this brand. The new Tesla Cybertruck is priced to compete with other electric trucks; all it needs is to make it to production so we can enjoy driving this new truck. Will there be a fleet of Cybertrucks at job sites in the future? Only if Tesla can get the production started.
