If you’re going shopping for a Ford Fusion, you might want to buckle up and get ready for a wild ride of options that await you. The Fusion has been an excellent sedan for your daily commute or when you want to take a cross-country drive to see what’s going on in other parts of the nation.

This is a car that brings you the drive you’re after and at an affordable price.

Affordable When New, but Now…

You won’t find any new models of the Fusion for the 2021 or 2022 model years when you visit your local Ford dealer. The pandemic caused this car to end production a little earlier than expected, which left the 2020 model year as the last one for the Fusion. This car was certainly affordable when it was brand new, but now that it’s older, you’ll save quite a bit of money when you buy a Fusion.

Three Ways to Drive

Ford is known for offering several trim levels and diving options for the vehicles it has to offer.

The Ford Fusion was not an exception to this at all. Three different varieties of this midsize sedan were offered when it was new and available as it came off the production line. If you purchase a 2020 version, you’ll find a gasoline engine, a hybrid powertrain, and a plug-in hybrid model to give you the three different driving systems offered.

Every model of this car that isn’t a hybrid model uses a six-speed automatic transmission, while the hybrids include a CVT. The power plants offered are:

  • 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine making 173 horsepower and 174 lb.-ft. of torque, fuel mileage comes in at 21 city/31 hwy mpg
  • 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 181 horsepower and 185 lb.-ft. of torque, fuel mileage comes in at 23 city/34 hwy mpg
  • 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 245 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft. of torque, fuel mileage comes in at 21 city/31 hwy mpg in FWD version and 20 city/29 hwy mpg in AWD models
  • 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine plus a permanent magnet AC motor making 188 horsepower, fuel mileage arrives at 43 city/41 hwy mpg
  • 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine plus a permanent magnet AC motor making 195 horsepower, 25 miles of electric-only driving 97 MPGe combined

With five different powertrains that you can enjoy in the Ford Fusion, you’ll have a lot to think about when you see this car waiting for you to take it home today.
