The GMC Hummer of the past was a GM truck that had an aggressive, almost military, look that drank gasoline by the gallon.
It was an awesome vehicle but didn’t quite last 20 years before it was taken off of the production line. By 2010, when the Hummer was discontinued, GM was dealing with bankruptcy, and this beast was cut from the lineup.
Fast forward to the modern-day. GMC took over the Hummer name and is bringing it back in the most advanced way imaginable. The new GMC Hummer is a completely electric vehicle that comes as a pickup truck or an SUV.
The new Hummer was sent to Earth for one reason, and one reason alone, to redefine strength. Here are some highlights you can expect from one of the most anticipated resurrections in the last two centuries.
A Whole Herd of Horses
The new Hummer is well equipped under the hood. You’ll see three electric motors that combine to make 1,000 horsepower. That’s a lot of horses! Even the top-of-the-line Ram 1500 only brings 702 hp to the table.
This engine combination also boasts 11,500 lb-ft of torque. Of course, some critics suggest that these torque numbers are only possible through the truck’s gear rations that add a multiplying effect. The real torque numbers are probably around 1,100 lb-ft of torque. Either way, this machine will easily tow between 7,500 and 11,000 pounds and haul up to 3,500 pounds.
Three Whole Seconds
Not only is the new GMC Hummer a herculean masterpiece, but it’s also going to be as fast as lightning. GMC currently claims that this vehicle will go from a dead stop to 60 mph in just three seconds.
The updated Ultium batter-pack may not charge in three seconds, but it will feel like it takes no time at all. The Hummer is set to have an 800-volt electrical architecture with a 350-kilowatt fast-charging option that can add 100 miles of range in a mere ten minutes. With a full charge, you can expect around 350 miles of driving range.
Off-Road Ready
The GMC Hummer isn’t just a force on the paved road. This beast will also own the off-road as well. It comes with 35-inch tires and a four-wheel independent suspension.
You’ll also notice a few enhancements like crab mode, which allows this truck to move diagonally, and extract mode, which raises the Hummer’s body an extra eight inches. That means even the roughest terrain won’t hold you back.
Pure Power Inside As Well
The interior of the Hummer focuses on a giant 13.4-inch display and 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. You’ll see tons of standard features like Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and OnStar telematics.
Another point to mention is GMC’s new semi-autonomous autopilot system. This super cruise system can basically drive for you on compatible roads. Say goodbye to the cruise control systems of the past.
