We see vehicles get a nip, receive tuck, and maybe even add more space. Yes, cars do get facelifts and several are doing just that for 2022.

When this new model year arrives, it should be a celebration of getting past a global pandemic and moving onward and forward to something extremely special. Let’s look at a few of the cars that will look a bit different after they go under the proverbial knife.

BMW 7 Series

BMW 7 Series

This large and luxurious sedan will continue to benefit from the versatility of the CLAR architecture that has made it great. We’ll see this impressive car with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, a plug-in hybrid variant, and potentially with a fully electric powertrain, but that’s not what we’re looking for. We’re interested in the new style of the 7 Series.

The BMW 7 Series will receive the new and bolder looks that BMW had ushered into their design language. As one of the many cars in the lineup to receive facelifts for 2022, you can expect this car to be one that sets the tone for the rest of the market. You’ll see low-set headlights, a choice of short or long-wheelbases, and signature BMW elements that let you know this isn’t just any car, it’s the BMW 7 Series.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Not to be outdone by BMW, Mercedes-Benz has also upgraded its flagship sedan to give us a new car that will feature new technology that might sprinkle down to lower models. The latest version of the MBUX infotainment system will be part of the mix with five screens including a 3D instrument panel that knows where your eyes are looking. The head-up display also features augmented reality to give you a more immersive navigation experience.

Most of the updates to the S-Class are found in the technology being offered. You’ll likely recognize the build and realize that this car may have only had a little work done. From the outside, you may not put this car in the class with the rest receiving facelifts for the 2022 model year, but when you see the interior, feel the power, and take advantage of the new technology offered, you’ll see the upgrades that make a difference. Sometimes, it’s the little things that count the most.

Toyota GR Corolla

Toyota GR Corolla

One of the most popular cars in the world is getting one of the most popular upgrades with more power and performance. By the early part of 2022, we should see the GR Corolla prowling the streets like any person who had received several facelifts and is ready to show them off. We don’t know all the details yet, but let’s have some fun with the rumors.

The rumor mill tells us the GR Corolla could have AWD, will likely be offered on the hatchback body style, and may have the same three-cylinder turbocharged engine that’s being used in the GR Yaris that isn’t offered in the United States. We might get to have even more fun if the six-speed manual transmission is also part of the mix. We can’t confirm any of this yet, but it sure is fun to think about.

Subaru BRZ

As expected, the facelifts for the 2022 Subaru BRZ are finally complete and they will be part of what we see for this next model year. This car receives a new look and a more powerful engine to give you exactly what you want. Step inside and see the cabin that has updated technology to keep you smiling as you take this impressive car out for a drive.

The shape of this car gives you an additional one inch of length and a half-inch lower stance than the model that was offered previously. The engine has grown from the 2.0-liter engine to a 2.4-liter model that makes 228 horsepower compared to 205 for the outgoing model. If you’re looking for fun in an affordable package, the new BRZ is the way to go.

Honda Civic

Honda does not want to be outdone by Toyota. With that in mind, we see a new generation of the Civic arriving for the 2022 model year. This car has been fully redesigned and gives us the eleventh generation that this car has been part of the market. Because this is a new generation model, we won’t see the spicy Si or Type R models for the first year, but Honda promises they will be offered soon.

The new Honda Civic is certainly among the facelifts we see for 2022. This car rides on a new platform is only offered in sedan or hatchback models, and it brings new engine options for you to choose from. We don’t know what those engines are yet, but we have seen a digital instrument panel and a nine-inch infotainment screen that will be offered. Expect more safety with an upgraded Honda Sensing package when the new Civic arrives.
