Enough Power to Run Everything

The last few weeks have been tough for all of us Texans.

With the storm that we had to endure and the aftereffects that lingered for days, leaving so many without power, water, heat, and essentials, we’ve been through the wringer.

But we’re Texans. We adapt to adversity, overcome problems, and handle tough times better than anyone.

And few Texans exemplified that better than Katy’s Randy Jones, who, in the aftermath of the storm, used his 2021 F-150 to power his entire house and help his neighbors.

Mr. Jones had just purchased his new F-150 a few weeks before the storm touched down and it’s a good thing he did.

Luckily, he decided to go with the new Pro Power Onboard package, which features more exportable onboard power than any light-duty full-size truck and allows owners to use their F-150s as mobile generators.

A longtime Texan, Mr. Jones knows a thing or two about losing power after hurricanes, which is why he knew he needed the Pro Power package.

Mr. Jones not only ran his home’s heat and lights, television and coffee maker through his Ford F-150, he was also able to help out friends and neighbors who came by to charge their devices.

He posted images of his new truck powering his house to an online F-150 forum only to receive a ton of replies from other Texans doing exactly the same.

Some comments from other F-150 owners included:

“I am doing the same thing in Texas. My power boost is running fridge lights cable modem router tv … my power recliner coffee pot. It has been running constantly for 72 hours. It has used 1/4 tank of gas. Also am using extension cords as I haven’t wired my house yet. The Ford pass works great. This truck is amazing.”

‘”I find it easier to run power to it for a few hours a day. (going on day 4 now) It keeps everything frozen in the freezer and cool in the refrigerator section. With no power the temperature goes up and things defrost. No waste and no clean up.

“It might be a bit of a gimmick until you need it. While I didn’t have a direct need for the 7.2KW option, I went for it. Glad it helped you out in a bad situation.”

Thankfully, the power has returned to much of Texas and we’re still seeing the lights come back on in different areas with every passing day.

But for people like Randy Jones and his fellow F-150 owners, this trying time was made just a bit easier thanks to the power of their trucks.
