The Honda brand hasn’t packed its lineup to the gills with SUVs that have only small differentiators, which is a good thing.
The newest member of the Honda lineup will be the 2019 Passport, which is a midsize two-row SUV. This SUV was recently shown off at the Los Angeles Auto Show and makes us want to know how it will stack up against the rest of the lineup. With that in mind, we’re going to take a look at how the Passport compares to the Ford Edge, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Nissan Murano.

Powertrain

The Honda Passport has only one engine which is a 3.5-liter V6 which is attached to a nine-speed automatic transmission to give you the same power as you find in the Pilot and Ridgeline. The most power in this grouping is found in the Jeep Grand Cherokee and this is the SUV that also gives you the most towing ability. Even so, the Passport is expected to receive a higher number when it comes to the fuel mileage offered.

Passenger and Cargo Volume

When it comes to the interior space you’ll find in this group, the Honda Passport leads the way. This SUV gives you a cabin that’s 115.9 cubic feet in volume. The Passport is the tallest of the group and it has more space behind the rear seats than the rest of the models. With every vehicle on this list being offered with only five seats, the volume is an important factor when taking this vehicle out on the road and enjoying what’s offered when it’s time to have an adventure. While the Honda Pilot is the big boy with all the room and the trimmings, if you’re looking at this specific group of SUVs, the Passport will be the one with the largest size for you.

Technology Features

If you’re looking for standard technology features to make a difference for you on the road, the Honda Passport is the right choice for you to enjoy the drive. The Passport is offered with the standard Honda Sensing suite of safety technology. This package includes adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist. The Jeep model isn’t equipped with the same level of safety, Hyundai and Ford both have a similar package with the exception of adaptive cruise control, and the Nissan Murano doesn’t have the same level of safety either. The Passport leads the way with the features you want.

The Honda Passport is hard to Pass Up

When you’re looking at the right midsize SUV for the drive you want to enjoy on the road, the 2019 Honda Passport will be an SUV that’s extremely difficult to pass up. This SUV has the most cargo and passenger volume in the class along with an excellent package of safety features. Once we see the pricing and fuel mileage numbers for this SUV, it will be easier to see just how well this Honda compares with the rest. You can expect the Passport will be affordable and offer you what you need when you drive.
