Hyundai is launching its new sub-brand called the “N” brand. This line already features the i30 N in foreign markets and it will also offer the Veloster N in North America, but recent information tells us there will be even more for us to enjoy when this brand is offered for our enjoyment going forward. The Elantra is the subcompact car that we admire and choose for excellent commuting, but now it could be the exciting and more powerful car that you can drive and enjoy.

Moving Up the Power Line

For the first couple of years that we will see the Veloster N as the only model that we have in this brand, but then it will be time for this lineup to expand. The Veloster N will give you 275 horsepower from under the hood when it arrives. Once this model is established and takes hold in this market, we will see a version of the Elantra that will carry the N name as well. This will likely be the Hyundai Elantra GT N Line, which is the sporty and active hatchback that we can enjoy for the drive and have a lot of fun.

Decoding the VIN from Hyundai

The VIN decoder guide tells us the future of the Hyundai lineup which will bring us the Elantra GT N Line as the model we want to drive. While this can be decoded using the VIN codes from Hyundai, we also see that the new Elantra GT N Line is a car that is already being sold in Europe as the i30 N Line. This means the car that will have already established itself in Europe as a model that’s fun and active on the road, will become the right choice for our driving experience when it’s time to head out on the road for some fun in the US as well.

What Should We Expect from the new Elantra GT N Line

This car is one that we can see as one that shows up with a different look and feeling than it does right now. The i30 N Line has a different front fascia, 18-inch alloy wheels, an N Line gear knob, and N sport seats. This same equipment should be offered on the Elantra GT N Line when it arrives in the US.

Under the Hood of the Elantra GT N Line

Right now, the only engines listed for the Elantra GT are the 1.6-liter turbocharged engine that makes 201 horsepower and the 2.0-liter engine that gives you 161 horsepower under the hood. This leaves us unclear whether or not we will have a more powerful engine when the N Line model is added to the mix, but we’ll have to wait and see when it shows up at one of the shows in the near future. There are rumors that we may see this new version of the Elantra GT at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show in November, but if it doesn’t show up there, it could make an appearance at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
