This is a philosophy of outdoor exploration to leave the environment as good or better than it was found when camping, hiking, exploring, or enjoying other outdoor activities. This philosophy teaches us to respect the environment and remember that it’s necessary for our survival into the future and will be needed by future generations as well.

A Car that Allows You To Leave No Trace

The Nissan Leaf is aptly named because it Leaves No Trace when it drives. By using only electricity for the drive, the Nissan Leaf has been dubbed as the most eco-friendly car ever sold and this car has sold in more numbers than any other around the world. Even though range anxiety has been part of the challenge or the Leaf and any other EV, the movement toward electrified cars has begun and is growing every year with new models that are added to the market. The Leaf is the most popular model so far, but certainly has plenty of company on the market today.

An Expedition of Miles and Smiles

If conservation is something that makes you happy, the expedition taken by polar explorer Marek Kaminski which is highlighted in the video below will make you smile. He called this trip his “No Trace Expedition” to dispel the conception that an electric car can’t be used for a long journey. This expedition took him from Poland and ended in Tokyo, Japan in his 2018 Nissan Leaf. The journey spans almost 10,000 miles, which means he needed to charge and recharge the car several times along the route in order to complete the ride.

Several Countries in a Nissan Leaf

The journey that took this explorer on a tour of the Eurasia area crossed eight countries and took sixty days. While the charging of the leave was difficult at times and Kaminski had to resort to some innovative ways to charge up the car, he was able to get the job done. Through Russia, Mongolia, and other countries along the way, the Nissan Leaf never let him down and it certainly didn’t leave any trace on the environment either, making an argument for the Leaf to be a car you could take on a road trip if you wanted.

Another Expedition to Leave No Trace

While the journey took Kaminski sixty days, and most of us wouldn’t have this kind of patience, his plan is to return to Poland using the same route he took to get to Tokyo. He’s been able to Leave No Trace in his Nissan Leaf in order to make sure he could continue to enjoy an eco-friendly ride across several countries. Now that he knows what’s in store ahead of him, he might be a bit more prepared for the ride and know where he’s going to have a challenge in charging up the Leaf for the drive that proves the Leaf can be a road trip vehicle.
