Break the law in Australia and you might find yourself riding in or being pulled over by a new Kia Stinger in the near future.
We’ve talked about a variety of vehicles being used in different ways around the world. Police forces in Dubai and Japan have turned to some of the most exotic supercars in the world to become part of their patrol units and the police forces in the US have used Mustangs, Camaros, Chargers, and Challengers for years, now it’s time for Australia to get in on the action. The Queensland Police Service recently announced it has taken delivery of an extremely special car to become the one that will offer its police force the tool they need; Stinging the Crime in Australia.
Australia was in need of some new police cars to replace the aging Ford Falcons and Holden Commodores that were in service for a long time. They turned to the Kia Stinger and will put 50 of the models to use to make sure they have the right car for the task of stopping crime in the country.
The Kia Stinger that will be used to be part of the police force in Australia is the one that’s powered by a 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that produces 365 horsepower. This is a number that the rest of the world should pay close attention to because the Kia Stinger could become the right product for other law enforcement agencies around the globe. The Queensland Police Service will show us quickly what these cars can do as they make use of them and run down those that choose to break the law or they make their way quickly to an emergency situation.
Will Others use the Kia Stinger?
While we don’t know how soon or if the Kia Stinger will become the car that’s used by police in the US, the ability to reach sixty mph in only 4.9 seconds is something that all should pay attention to. This car is one that’s quick, active, and capable on the road as it’s proved many times in a variety of tests that pit the Stinger up against cars we’ve known and admired for many years. Now it seems, we’re going to get a real-world test of what this car can do.
As the Stinger fleet makes its way to Australia to be put into service, the rest of the world will observe and see how it performs. This can act as the initial job interview for the Kia Stinger to see if it will become the police car that we want to enjoy in the US, in Europe, or in other parts of the world. Our own police forces are typically loyal to the domestic products, but a car that can run as fast as the Stinger that’s affordable and tough might make some agencies reconsider what they’re currently driving.
