The new Porsche 911 GT3 is the next in a lineup of amazing Porsche sports car models to take on the track and be a nearly perfect example of what you want to enjoy from behind the wheel. This is a car that is powered by a 4.0-liter flat six-cylinder engine that pumps out 500 horsepower and 339 lb.-ft. of torque while being attached to a seven-speed DCT transmission or an optional six-speed manual. While this car is easily one of the most exciting to drive, the comparison between this new 2018 model and the 2004 model certainly give you an idea of what this car is and how far its come.

The 2004 Model

When the GT3 showed up in 2004 it was offered as a model that brought us items that include droopy headlights, IMS issues, a water-cooled engine and a few other peculiarities that meant it might turn off those that were more apt to choose a traditional 911 to drive. This original model did have the flat six-cylinder engine you wanted and the three pedal drive with the dynamic stick shift that allowed you to have the engagement you wanted for the drive on the road.

With this original version of the GT3, you had to work harder to get to the maximum power. The peak torque arrived at 5,000 rpm and the horsepower maxed out at 7,400 rpm while the engine would rev up to 8,200 if you needed it to. This car carried in the power numbers of 381 ponies and 284 lb.-ft. of torque, which isn’t nearly as much as we have in the latest version of this car, but still admire for the drive on the road or at the track in this original model that also offered larger brakes, a stiffer suspension, lighter wheels and a large spoiler to give this car the equipment needed for the track fun you wanted to enjoy.

The 2018 Version

While we already know what’s under the hood of this version of the Porsche 911 GT3, you can also experience the fact that this car has little to no noise entering the cabin. The refined and refinished looks and feel of the car has one serious advantage over the previous model, this car has the low-speed power you want to enjoy to get things started off on the right foot.

While the feel of the road and the sound you were used to in previous models of the sports car you want to drive has been removed from this version of the GT3, this is a car that can reach sixty mph in only 3.2 seconds and even continue to head to the 100 mph mark which will happen in 3.4 seconds. The top speed of this Porsche 911 is 197 mph and it’s a car that is made to stick to every twist and turn on the road and on the track without giving you any trouble at all.

Which One Should You Drive?

The choice of which version of this car to drive is up to you. The 2004 version may be one you can have with an excellent and affordable price while the 2018 version of the Porsche 911 GT3 is a bit more expensive, but it’s a car that can easily offer you the dynamic driving experience you want to enjoy. Make this the right choice for you when you’re looking for the sports car that will give you the qualities you’re looking for when you want the power and the lightweight build you’ve been after. You might have trouble finding a 2004 model, but you will certainly be able to find a 2018 version if you want.
