Jaguar has entered the SUV market with the F-Pace SUV and hasplans in the works for a larger E-Pace model while also working on the electric i-Pace SUV. With these three models,you might think the smart way to name them would have been to allow the electric model to be the E-Pace, but that’s not what Jaguar has done. Maybe we’ll see changes in the future that offer a more creative naming, but for now, the i-Pace is the electricSUV that was shown off during the Geneva Motor Show. This SUV is expected to bring in 240 miles of range using a 90 kWh battery and it will be on the market in the second half of this year for us to enjoy.

In the meantime, here are some things we’ve learned about this vehicle:

Excellent Look –When you allow Jaguar to build a vehicle and offer something special and attractive, they know what to do with the design desired. The i-Pace is no exception with a coupe-style SUV that gives it a sporty and attractive feeling whileoffering the function needed fora vehicle that needs to be versatile and right for a family to drive.

Torque for Days –With the power pack offered in this impressive SUV the numbers come out at 394 horsepower and 512 lb.-ft. of torquethat’s delivered to all four wheels. This torque number is available as soon as you press the accelerator because this is an electric vehicle that can jump off the starting line. Because of this, the i-Pace is able to reach sixty mph in only 4.5 secondsto make it possible for you to have incredible acceleration and a vehicle that’s not only electric but one that will put a huge smile on your face.

Heavier Steering –While saying the i-Pace has heavy steering might sound like a negative, that’s just the opposite. Many of the EV models on the market have steering that’s so light you wonder if it’s still engaged with the vehicle. The i-Pace is created to ensure you can have the feeling of the drive and know how to react to the feedback you’re getting through the wheel. This makes it easier for you to drive this vehicle at higher speeds, which is what Jaguar wants you to be able to enjoy when you choose the excitement of this electric SUV.

Quiet –Shhh, the i-Pace is driving and if you actually want to hear it operate, you have to be quiet yourself. This vehicle makes nearly no noise at all and in the cabin, you’ll find an area that’s completely silent. If you’ve never driven an electric vehicle, you might find this aspect of driving a bit jarring, but this is what you want when you choose an EV for the drive. The quiet operation seems a bit eerie with the aggressive stance and sporty styling of the i-Pace, making it a bit of a meeting of opposites for the drive.

Hunting Down Tesla –Until now, the only true EV SUV on the market has been the Tesla Model X which is considered the flagship model for this brand. As soon as the new i-Pace makes its way to the market, it’s going to be the model that can compete at a high level and offer us the ride that will make us forget about the gullwing rear doors and large electronics of the Model X. It seems the Jaguar team has targeted this area of the market and will certainly make a run toward supremacy in the EV SUV area to give us a great ride with the range that we need.
