The advancement of what Hyundai has developed over time brings in a variety of sports cars and performance models that we’ll see on the roads in the near future. This brand has begun to develop their sub-brand called “N” with the i30 as the first entry. This car was developed into a racecar and raced at the 24-hours of Nurburgring in May and this car will make its way to the US for us to see what it brings to the track and to the road. This car will be shown at the 2017 SEMA show in October to let us see what this impressive car and brand will bring.
Even though we could have and still can see what the i30 N race car has done and accomplished on the track, the fact that this car is coming to the SEMA show will mark the first time we have an N-badged vehicle in the US. This is the car that will show the future of the performance brand from Hyundai that has been working to develop the different aspects of driving that we want to enjoy and experience when this sub-brand makes its way to our market.

Track Tested

When the Hyundai i30 N arrives in the US it will represent a car that’s been battle tested. This car completed and finished fourth at the Nurburgring 24 Hours and it completed 122 laps which covered more than 1,800 miles during the process. This is the first product that we see from the performance brand and it uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine to produce 271 horsepower while being attached to a six-speed manual transmission. This car offers the performance features that make it fun to race including an electronic differential, launch control, 19-inch wheels, performance tires, sporty brakes, red calipers and more.

While the i30 N is one of the most impressive performers in the hatchback class this won’t be the car we see on the roads in the US when the N brand arrives in North America. The first model we’ll see will be the Veloster N which allows us to have a performance model that’s familiar to us and able to provide us with the drive we’re looking for. This impressive new model has been spotted testing at Nurburgring as well with its larger wheels, large hatch spoiler and more for the performance we want.

Certainly, we’ll enjoy the look and qualities of the i30 N when we see it at SEMA next month but the new Veloster N is the car that we should be excited about. This new version of the Veloster is one that should bring us a power number that could reach as much as 275 horsepower form the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. Get ready, the Hyundai performance brand is ready to make its way to the US and begin to show us what we want when we’re looking for the excitement and qualities you’re looking for on the road and at the track.
