The Volkswagen brand has put a lot of time, money and effort into bringing us the new I.D. brand and making it the electric vehicle brand that will be recognized as their version of the future of driving. While we don’t know exactly where or what names will be used for the I.D. brand to give us the models we want to drive, VW has made a filing that will expand the lineup and bring even more of what we need and desire with this new brand so that we can have the EV models that will give us our driving future.
A couple of the names we’ve heard about and seen at different shows already include the Buzz and Crozz which provide us with some of the driving we’ll expect to enjoy for the future. While not even on the market yet, the different I.D. models we’ll enjoy in the future could amount to as many as thirty models in the future for the drive we want to have. The Buzz and Crozz have been concepts that have been impressive at the shows to allow us to have something fun to admire.

New Names for the Drive

The plan is to have more I.D. models around the world and the names Cruiser and Freeler have now been added to the names that have been filed as new trademark names that have been registered with the World Intellectual Property Organization. These two new models will be a sedan and an SUV that will arrive sometime before 2022 and have been referred to as AEROe for the sedan and the Lounge for the SUV in documents that were released recently but the names that have been added are the Cruiser and Freeler to give us more from this brand.

While we don’t know which models will reach which areas of the market for the future of our drive, the fact is we know that Europe will have at least one more I.D. model than we will in the US. this will be a hatchback model that won’t make its way to America, but will be offered as an impressive and useful model to drive. Maybe we’ll eventually see this model make its way to the market after a few years, but for now, it seems VW isn’t being shy about adding more models to the mix.

The I.D. family of vehicles is based on the MEB platform and is expected to offer up to 375 miles of range for each of the models that are included in the mix to give us what we want for the drive. There is a motor in the rear when this platform is used and another that’s optional for the front. These motors power the wheels that are nearest, which means most of the I.D. models will be RWD versions to give us everything we want on the road that could become AWD models with the addition of the optional motor up front.
