We’ve looked forward to this reveal for many months and wondered exactly what Ford would bring to the market with the new Ranger and now, it’s finally here. Even though the Ranger name was sold around the world for the past decade, the North American market has been without this highly respected name for that period of time. Starting with the 2019 model year, this pickup truck name is back and it’s ready to enter the midsize market to compete against some of the other names that have been capturing the sales in this arena.
The previous version that wore this name was a compact truck, but this new one will be a midsize version to answer the growing demand in this segment. In fact, the growth of this area of the market has been approximately 84 percent for the 2017 calendar year which is more than 452,000 trucks that were sold. It’s time for Ford to capture its part of the sales in this market with the new Ranger that will certainly compete highly against the names we’ve grown accustomed to from Nissan, Toyota, Honda and GM.

Ready to Ride

The team at Ford went to work to build this truck and painstakingly spent the time to ensure every panel and item fit perfectly to make the new Ranger a truck that is built and feels like the perfect truck for you to drive every day. Everything is brand new for this truck, which makes it one that we can admire and analyze to see if it’s the right choice for our drive. The Ranger has been put through the same rigorous durability testing that is used for the F-150 to ensure its ready to get things done when you need it to.

To start with, only one engine will be used which will be a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine which is the same one that’s used in many of the cars offered by Ford. This engine will be attached to the new ten-speed automatic transmission to give us a smooth ride and the drivability you want in an impressive truck that has the qualities on the road that make it an easy choice for your daily drive. There is an available terrain management system to allow you to choose between normal, grass/gravel/snow, mud/ruts, and sand to be able to handle the off-road challenges you might face.

Look for more information to be offered regarding this new pickup as it begins to come off the Michigan Assembly Plant production line and out onto the streets. This is the truck that puts Ford back in the midsize truck market with an extremely capable model that can only grow from the one powertrain that will be offered to start with. This new pickup is ready to offer the ride you’ll want to enjoy, just wait a few months and it will be available for you at your nearby Ford dealer.

Interested in a truck you can drive now? Then opt for the Ford F-150. This classically powerful beauty is available in many different trims and is ready and waiting for you to take it out for a spin.
