What We Know So Far About the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan

What We Know So Far About the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan

There’s a new generation of Volkswagen Tiguan coming. This popular little SUV has been around for a few years now, and the 2025 model will arrive as the third generation. There’s still a lot to learn about the 2025 Tiguan, but there are some things that VW has made available. Like the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan trim levels, the 2025 will be available with a similar lineup. Here’s a look.

What Kind of Power Will the New Tiguan Have?

We don’t have the official word from Volkswagen about the powertrain options for the Tiguan, but the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder is expected to be the base engine. An optional and more powerful plug-in hybrid is expected to be a part of the lineup, too. If you drive the Tiguan with the turbo four, you can expect to see about 184 horsepower.
The new hybrid, affectionally called the eHybrid, is offered with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission in Europe’s version. The hope is that this makes its way to the U.S. with the third-generation Tiguan.

A Bigger Compact Tiguan?

The Tiguan makes no excuses for being a compact SUV, but the 2025 will be a little longer. This extra length makes it more practical for families that need to haul kids and gear around. The added cargo space is a big benefit. If you don’t like the bulk of a large SUV but still need an extra row of seats, the Tiguan is one of the few compact SUV that offers the third row.

A Whole Lot of Tech

The new Tiguan will arrive with the option of a 15-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. It will serve as the center for everything climate, entertainment, information, and more. It’s still not clear if the 12-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will still serve as the entry-level system or if all trim levels will get the larger screen.
If you look at the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan trim levels, you can see right away that this is a big improvement. The entry-level S has a 6.5-inch touchscreen, and the upgrade in the higher trims was an 8-inch screen.

All the Safety Systems You Need

Just like the previous generation Tiguan, the 2025 will have a long list of advanced driver aids. You can expect to see all the equipment you’ve seen before, such as forward collision mitigation, automatic braking, blind-spot warning, and blind-spot intervention. The Tiguan can help you stay in your lane, stay with traffic on the highway while automatically adjusting your speed, and give you a good view of what’s in front and behind you when parking.

What Else is New?

There are still some gaps to fill when it comes to details about the latest Tiguan, but you can take a look at the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan trim levels to get an idea of what equipment you’ll start with.
We do know that it will ride on the new MQB platform, but what’s to come inside and the details on the exterior changes are still to come.
