The 2025 Subaru Forester is a remodeled vehicle that brings more features and qualities than ever before. Two items haven’t been seen in a Subaru in the past.
For several years, the Forester has been one of the most useful compact crossover SUVs in the market. The standard Symmetrical AWD system means power goes to all four wheels, making it easy for drivers to enjoy everything this SUV brings to the table. Whether it’s used on the trails or when you’re driving on the roads, the Forester could be a great choice. In 2025, this Subaru SUV will be upgraded to a new generation.
Upgrades to the EyeSight system
The safety package included in Subaru vehicles is called the EyeSight safety system. This new model has several impressive upgrades to make it better. You’ll have a broader field of view from the cameras, updated control software, and an electric brake booster. These upgrades allow the EyeSight system to detect cyclists and pedestrians at intersections sooner than before. This helps alert the driver sooner, enabling the vehicle to avoid collisions on the road.
You can upgrade this system with an options package that includes reverse automatic braking, blind-spot detection with lane change assist, rear cross-traffic alerts, and a power rear liftgate.
Unfortunately, the 2025 Forester Wilderness doesn’t have these tech upgrades and is a carry-over model.
What items are a first for any Subaru?
The 2025 Subaru Forester comes with some features that haven’t made it to any other model in the brand’s lineup yet. This new SUV comes with Emergency Stop Assist (ESA), which is a first for any Subaru. This feature is basically a driver drowsiness monitor and activates if the driver becomes unresponsive to warnings. The ESA system will stop the vehicle, activate the hazard lights, and unlock the doors when activated. The Starlink infotainment system will then call emergency services to the vehicle’s location.
The other feature that is a first for Subaru is a hands-free power rear liftgate. It seems this should have been offered in many other models prior to the 2025 Subaru Forester, but it’s “better late than never.” To utilize the hands-free liftgate, a person must activate the kick sensor by waving a foot under the rear bumper cover. This feature is part of an options package that costs $1,700 but also includes a Harman Kardon audio system and reverse automatic braking technology.
What else does the Forester include?
The cargo capacity of this new SUV is slightly greater than the previous model. This means you’ve got 30 cubic feet of cargo room behind the rear seats in the base model or 28 cubes in other versions. This also means 69 and 74 cubic feet when the seats are folded flat.
You’ll find lots of sunlight in the Forester’s cabin with a panoramic sunroof that extends to the rear and just above the passenger’s knees. This means you’ve got ample visibility and impressive views when driving the 2025 Subaru Forster.
The center of the dashboard features an 11.6-inch infotainment screen with touch-sensitive selections that are large and easy to read. Thankfully, there are also redundant toggles for tuning, volume, temperature, and defrost to help you have an easier time making your Forester comfortable when its time for a drive.
How much power does this Subaru SUV produce?
You’ll find a familiar 2.5-liter flat-four engine that delivers 180 horsepower, which might not be the engine you want to use. Thankfully, the peak torque is up compared to the previous model year, giving you 178 lb-ft for your driving needs if you select the base powertrain for your drive.
The powertrain is pretty vanilla, but that’s not a bad thing when you consider what the Forester is made to do.
The new Forester is quieter than before
Subaru utilized a substantial package of sound-deadening materials with three times more structural adhesive and a thicker windshield. These improvements ensure you have a much quieter cabin when you take this Subaru SUV out for a drive. Some of these improvements also help with better structural rigidity, which makes this SUV better on the road.
Could the 2025 Subaru Forester be the right choice for your driving needs? This new model has features never seen in a Subaru, which could be a great way to get you in the door, but this SUV has a full package of great features for your driving pleasure. Will you take your new Forester out on the trails or stick to the paved roads? Either way, the Symmetrical AWD system can help you handle the ride with ease.
