EVs and Hybrids Helping to Drive Ford Sales Numbers

EVs and Hybrids Helping to Drive Ford Sales Numbers

Even with vehicles powered by traditional combustion engines still outselling hybrids and EVs, there is an increasing number of car shoppers headed to Ford dealerships, and they are buying electric and hybrid vehicles. This increase in hybrid sales shows that their plan to double down on hybrid and electric technology is the right strategy. Ford has lots of choices for buyers who want to go electric.

The Ford Maverick Pickup Truck

The Ford Maverick is a small pickup truck that offers a hybrid powertrain. For the month of February Ford sold 12,045 hybrid vehicles, 6,463 of which were the Maverick. You may have noticed that small pickup trucks are making a comeback at your Ford dealership, and the Maverick is right at the center of this trend. The available hybrid powertrain uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor that combine to get you 191 horsepower.

The Ford F-150 Lightning Pickup Truck

If you’re a fan of the Ford F-150 but are ready to jump on the electric powertrain bandwagon, then make sure to check out the Lightning. This truck gets power from two electric motors. When equipped with the standard range battery it can get 452 horsepower, but if you opt for the extended range battery, horsepower jumps to 580. Not only can the Lightning reach 60 mph in just four seconds, when you get to cruising speed, it has all the road manners as the gas-powered F-150.

The Ford Mustang Mach-e

The Ford Mustang Mach-E contributes to Ford’s increased sales in February by giving car buyers a cross between a performance coupe and a crossover. Sales of the Mach-e significantly increased in February, showing that buyers are getting on board. It runs completely on electric power, offering the performance you expect from a Mustang but with enough space to bring along your family. The GT-trim comes standard with all-wheel drive and two electric motors that generate 480 horsepower. Press on the accelerator in this Ford and you’ll get to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. The less powerful trims with rear wheel drive still make an impressive 266 or 290 horsepower.

The Ford Escape Hybrid

The Ford Escape is a familiar face on a Ford dealership lot. This crossover SUV has room for five people and is perfect for urban driving or your daily commute. One of the best things about the Escape is the powertrain options. In addition to the gas engine, it’s available with a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid. Both hybrid models use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors to motivate the Escape. Both of these use a continuously variable automatic transmission. The plug-in hybrid comes with front-wheel drive, but you can opt for all-wheel drive if you choose the regular hybrid version.

With so many great hybrid and electric vehicles available at your Ford dealership and others, it’s not a surprise that sales are increasing.
