The fact that the Toyota Tundra has a passionate following was reason enough for this truck to be completely redone for the 2022 model year.
This is the first complete makeover for this truck since 2007, during which time other trucks have been remade a few times each. This new version of the Tundra is a big deal for the audience that loves them, and it just might be the new truck that turns some away from other brands to bring them into the fold of the Toyota family to enjoy a fantastic new truck.
Yes, it’s a Completely New Truck
We’ve seen some generational changes in other vehicles in the market but see some parts move up to the new vehicle that’s offered. That’s not the case with the Tundra. The Toyota team has informed the world that this new truck shares no parts with the outgoing model. Not a single one, even though some could have been used, but even items like the turn signal stalk, an item you don’t normally think about, have been redesigned and given the upgraded treatment in this new truck. It’s all-new, and it’s ready for you to take a drive.
A Better Ride Awaits You in the Tundra
If you hate the way some trucks drive, especially when the bed is empty, you’ll love the new items that offer a fantastic ride in the Toyota Tundra. You’ll find a new chassis and suspension, a fully-boxed frame, and a change from leaf springs to a multi-link rear suspension to smooth out the drive. When you select the higher trims of this truck, you’ll find an adaptive variable suspension and load-leveling rear-height control that make this truck even better for your drive. You’ll love the way this truck handles when you need to take the Tundra to work or when it’s time for a weekend of fun.
Why Will You Admire this Toyota?
The update for the Tundra couldn’t have come at a better time, making it easy to consider this truck, even if you’ve driven the competition for many years. You’ll have the benefits of two new powertrain options, one of them being a hybrid, a tough, light composite bed, and the amazing reliability you associate with driving a Toyota. This truck is certainly the ideal truck for you to have the power and drive you want every day.
Check Out that Cabin!
Step inside the Toyota Tundra, and you’re going to see a large, wide horizontal dashboard that appears much more premium than the outgoing model of this truck. You’ll enjoy a higher grade of materials, an 8-inch touchscreen that can be upgraded to a 14-inch model in higher trims. Enjoy the combination of analog and digital instrumentation in front of you, which is a look that you don’t often see anymore. The seats are large and comfortable, making them perfect for your drive home after a long day at the job site or when you’ve had a glorious weekend full of adventures.
A New Build to the Body of the Tundra
The steel bed has been replaced for this full-size Toyota truck. In its place, we find a new aluminum-reinforced sheet molded compound bed that is stronger and lighter than the bed that was part o the previous generation. This new bed allows you to carry more in the rear of the truck, which is what you need when you use this truck for the work you’re going to get done. The bed is unpainted and wears a dark charcoal gray color that can be covered with a bed liner that will protect this area even further.
The bed isn’t the only area where we see aluminum; the hood and front door panels are also made of this material to give you a lighter truck. There’s a hexagonal front grille with slim-mount LED headlights in the front to give you an attractive face on this truck. Take a walk around the Tundra and see if it has the look you want when you’re ready to drive.

Two Brand-New Powertrains for the Tundra
The 2022 Toyota Tundra will not use a V8 engine at all. You’ll have the choice of either a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V5 engine or the same engine with the benefits of a hybrid electric motor to give you the power you need. Both engine offerings use a ten-speed automatic transmission for the smooth power delivery you need. With just the engine, you’ll have 389 horsepower and 479 lb.-ft. of torque while the addition of the electric motor gives you 437 horsepower and 583 lb.-ft. of torque.
