Recently, the new 2020 GMC Sierra HD was spied out on the public roads. This shouldn’t come as any surprise because we’ve seen the Chevrolet Silverado HD out on the spy shot tour as well. The GMC was prowling around in what appears to be a Denali Crew Cab build that makes it a truck that we want to drive. This truck showed up with a nearly transparent dress on the front, which makes it an easy one to discuss and understand more about what it plans to bring to the market in the near future.
The Treatments We Expect from GMC
This new GMC Sierra HD model showed up with a muscular hood and lower trim treatments than what the current Sierra 1500 offer. The sheet over the grill and headlights make it easy to see that this is a front end that reflects the Sierra 1500 Denali trim. Over the hood scoop, a black tarp was in place, but this tarp wasn’t enough to keep us from seeing that the scoop was similar to the 2018 HD design of the GMC Sierra that we’ve enjoyed on the job for a couple of years.
An Interest in the Rear of the Sierra HD
One of the most impressive additions to the lineup of GMC pickup trucks has been the MultiPro rear tailgate. The test mule that was out on the roads showed off the same interface for this tailgate that’s a six-way item that can make it easy for the drive on the roads and allow us to make use of the bed in a better way than in the past. The Sierra HD also shows the stepside feature ahead of the rear wheels, LED taillights, and the GM rear bumper step that we’ve grown to love.
A Second Spy Mule on the Road
In addition to the 2020 GMC Sierra 2500HD that wore the Denali trim features, a 3500 model was also seen. This truck wasn’t wearing the Denali garb and that makes it an interesting model to admire because of the news that a new grill would be offered up front. Along with a grill that’s different from any others we’ve been shown, this new truck showed up with mirrors that have solid arms to make them more rugged for the times this truck is on the trails or on a tough job site.
This New 2020 GMC is Coming
We will see more about the new GMC Sierra HD models in the upcoming months. You can expect to see this truck on the auto show circuit next year to give us an idea of what this truck will have to offer. It shouldn’t be much of a surprise or departure from what the half-ton models offer that have been added to the mix for the 2019 model year already. This early look at the 2500 and 3500 HD models that are going to be ready for the 2020 model year can get us excited for the future of the work trucks we love.
