There’s no denying the aggressive supercar build of the Chevrolet Corvette; see what this car does on the most famous track in the world.
Recently, a new Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 was spotted at Nurburgring, which can certainly get us excited to think this car would be ready to make a record lap and give us the time that we want to see from this beast, but that wasn’t the case during this recent trip to Germany. The car itself was wearing a Michigan manufacturer’s license plate, which gives the idea this car was being tested by General Motors itself, but it wasn’t yet time for the car to make its fast lap.
Nurburgring Set Up for Lap Records
During the time the ZR1 Corvette was in Germany, the Nurburgring track was closed down for industry pool testing. This is when the different automakers bring their latest products to the track to test them and see how fast they can ride around this track. This is the time that was used for the testing of the cars that showed up including the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. The 12.9-mile circuit is certainly one that offers the challenge needed to rip off some speedy times and show what cars can do as they try and tame one of the hardest tracks to drive in the world.
Setting Goals and Preparing for the Record
The Corvette team set a goal to lap the Nordschleife in less than seven minutes. This would make it a seriously fast Corvette and one that offers the performance we’re going to want in this amazing new car. As the next version for the 2019 model year of the Corvette, the ZR1 is a car that’s ready to offer the fun and performance that can be gathered from the 755 horsepower that will come out of the engine. Before running the fast lap time and working toward any kind of record, it’s likely the team was gathering information to prepare for the actual lap.
Rip-Roaring Speed for the Chevrolet Corvette
This new version of the Corvette ZR1offers more power, downforce, and better cooling than the outgoing Z06 version of the C7 Corvette. This car also benefits from some extra sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires that can help make this car handle the daunting challenge of this track with ease. When you see the car in the video, you’ll see an odd-looking exhaust system attached to the car which is meant to keep the noise down because Nurburgring has noise regulations that the Corvette would violate without this exhaust setup.
This Chevrolet Corvette is Coming
The new version of the Corvette ZR1 goes on sale later this year and it will be ready for you to have an exciting and impressive model to enjoy the ride you’ll want to experience on the roads and at the track. This is a car that will certainly be a lot of fun when you take it out to run some fast laps and you can learn more about how fast it laps the Nurburgring track after we have the data to show us whether or not the Corvette team was able to make this car reach the goals they set.
