The traditional way for automakers to issue recalls has to do with either the discovery of a troublesome part or a number of accidents that can be traced to a specific part. In a nontraditional fashion, the Ford Focus RS will receive a recall on a large number of models that will allow this performance hot hatch to be repaired at no cost to the owners. This is a response to the online complaints about the vehicle that have been piling up for nearly a year, making it necessary to respond to the complaints.
The recall will affect the 2016-2017 model year versions of the Ford Focus RS which have potentially faulty head gaskets. These models have beenfound to develop a leak for the coolant in the engine combustion chamber which causes white smoke and low coolant to be expelled without external leaks. The vehicles affected were built from August 3, 2015 through July 6, 2017, which means there’s a large number of models that need to have this repair completed in order to make these vehicles able to operate the right way once again, making this the car that continues to be an impressive model to drive.
The Recall Details
When you purchase the Ford Focus RS you expect to have a vehicle that offers you a variety of excellent items for you to enjoy the drive with the performance qualities that make a lot of sense for you on the road and track. Having a head gasket that leaks coolant could hamper this performance, especially if you decide to put this vehicle through some of the higher levels of performancefor the drive that you want to have out on the track that you enjoy for the fun you’ll have when turning fast laps.
This recall is being conducted under the Ford Customer Satisfaction Program because the part hasn’t been found to be faulty, but it is an item that has been complained about many times over. Dealers will pressure test the cooling system and replace the cylinder head gasket. This means that every vehicle that’s part of this recall will receive a new head gasket and those models that fail thepressure test will also receive a new cylinder head. These repairs will be done free of charge and make it possible for your Focus RS to be ready to tear up the track once again.
The estimated time for the repairs to take place is less than two days but due to service scheduling requirements, the vehicle may need to be left for longer than two days for the service. If you need a replacement model for the time yours is in for service, Ford offers to pay the cost for up to four days of rental costs for a vehicle so that you can drive and get where you need to go. This program recall will stay in effect until January 31, 2019 regardless of the mileage and is a coverage that’s transferred to other owners.
