When you see the Audi R8 on the road you know this is a car built to be a lot of fun and give you the ability to control all the power and performance that’s found in this impressive model. For the most part, we’ve gotten used to the R8 being an AWD model that is offered in coupe or Spyder models to give us the choice between a hard roof and a convertible model for the drive. For those that wanted the qualities offered of RWD only, they were left out with this AWD-only offering.
Now, we see that Audi has created a version of this car to satisfy those purists and allow them to have the driving engagement and excitement they desire on the road and track. This new version is the Audi R8 RWS which will be offered as a variation of what we’ve come to know and understand. This new version will use the same powertrain as the standard R8, but it will offer us a different way to drive and feel the road with the RWD model that will be perfect for those who want to have the driving qualities offered.
Get Pure and Smile
As we see more models on the market turning to controls at all wheels which provides more grip but takes away the challenges and fun of two free wheels, the R8 RWS is a choice that you can make and have a car that’s certainly built for the fun and engaging drive you want. This car is powered by the 5.2-liter V10 engine that pumps out 540 horsepower while being lighter than the standard AWD version of the R8. This model is expected to be able to reach sixty mph in less than 3.7 seconds and have a top speed of 198 mph.
Because the new R8 RWS takes away the AWD system and gives you an impressive RWD version you will have the ability to perform smoky, controlled drifts on the track. This can be accomplished with the stability control system is set to “Sport” and the drive mode is set to “Dynamic.” The ESC will only engage with there is a bit more grip needed to hold the drift angle to keep you in the roll you’re looking for. There isn’t as much concern about grip on the track as there used to be when it comes to Audi.
This new R8 RWS model will look a bit different from the standard models with gloss-black 19-inch wheels, a matte black grill, matte black front and rear air vents, and black upper side blades on the coupe models. There is also a red Audi Sport decal that can be added to the car while you can sit in the comfort of sport bucket seats with full leather as part of the standard offerings. The coupe and convertible models will be limited to 999 units each to give you an opportunity to have the car you’re looking for on the road and out on the track.
